Dosage
Oral. Adultos y adolescentes mayores de 12 años: 300 mg cada 24 horas ó 150 mg cada 12 horas. Niños de 3 meses a 12 años: 4 mg/kg de peso corporal cada 12 horas, máximo 300 mg al día.
General information
Nucleósido análogo sintético que se biotransforma intracelularmente en sus metabolitos activos: 5 trifosfato y trifosfato (L-TP). Inhibe la transcripción reversa del VIH en la terminación de la cadena del DNA.
Pregnancy warnings
Existen efectos secundarios en fetos de animales de experimentación. No hay hasta el momento estudios adecuados en los seres humanos, por lo que se desconocen los riesgos de su utilización en mujeres embarazadas. LA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA SÓLO ES VALIDA CUANDO EL PROBLEMA DE SALUD INDICA SIN LUGAR A DUDAS, LA NECESIDAD DE SU EMPLEO.
Precautions
Pancreatitis y daño renal.
Adverse effects
Cefalea, neuropatía periférica, parestesias, tos, vértigo, insomnio y depresión. Náusea, diarrea, vómito, dolor abdominal, dispepsia y pancreatitis. Neutropenia, anemia y trombocitopenia. Alopecia.
