Dosage
Oral Adultos y mayores de 12 años de edad: 600 mg / 300 mg cada 24 horas.
General information
Tanto abacavir como lamivudina son metabolizados secuencialmente por las cinasas intracelulares a los trifosfatos respectivos (TFs) que son las partes activas. El TF de lamivudina y el TF de carbovir (la forma trifosfato activa del abacavir) son sustratos e inhibidores competitivos de la transcriptasa reversa (TR) del virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH).
Pregnancy warnings
Existen efectos secundarios en fetos de animales de experimentación. No hay hasta el momento estudios adecuados en los seres humanos, por lo que se desconocen los riesgos de su utilización en mujeres embarazadas. LA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA SÓLO ES VALIDA CUANDO EL PROBLEMA DE SALUD INDICA SIN LUGAR A DUDAS, LA NECESIDAD DE SU EMPLEO.
Precautions
El tratamiento con Abacavir, Lamivudina debe ser suspendido en cualquier paciente que desarrolle hallazgos clínicos o de laboratorio que sugieran acidosis láctica o hepatotoxicidad (que puede incluir hepatomegalia y esteatosis, aún en ausencia de elevaciones notables en los niveles de aminotransferasa).
Adverse effects
Con abacavir: erupción cutánea (sin síntomas sistémicos), hiperlactemia. Con lamivudina: alopecia, artralgia, miopatías, hiperlactemia.
