Dosage
Oral. Adultos y mayores de 12 años: 150 mg cada 12 horas (de acuerdo a lamivudina).
General information
Antivirales que inhiben a la enzima transcriptasa reversa, esencial para la síntesis de DNA, en combinación tienen una acción sinergica, contra el HIV, prolongando el incremento del número de linfocitos CD4 y disminuyendo el número de virus.
Pregnancy warnings
Existen efectos secundarios en fetos de animales de experimentación. No hay hasta el momento estudios adecuados en los seres humanos, por lo que se desconocen los riesgos de su utilización en mujeres embarazadas. LA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA SÓLO ES VALIDA CUANDO EL PROBLEMA DE SALUD INDICA SIN LUGAR A DUDAS, LA NECESIDAD DE SU EMPLEO.
Precautions
Depresión hematopoyética ó disminución de la función renal; no administrar en pacientes con pérdida de peso (< 50 kg.), con depuración de creatinina < 50 ml/min, con datos sugestivos de acidosis láctica o hepatotoxicidad.
Adverse effects
Cefalea, náusea, mialgias, vómito, anorexia, hiperglucemia, pancreatitis. La zidovudina incluye neutropenia, anemia severa y trombocitopenia; su uso prolongado se asocia con miopatía sintomática.
