Dosage
Infusión intravenosa u oral. Adultos: Candidiasis oral: 200 mg el primer día; subsecuente 100 mg/ día por 1 a 2 semanas. Candidiasis sistémica y Meningitis criptocóccica: 400 mg; subsecuente 200 mg/ día por 2 semanas y 10 a 12 semanas en meningitis. Niños: Mayores de 1 año: 1 a 2 mg/kg de peso corporal/día. Micosis sistémicas: 3 a 6 mg/kg de peso corporal/día. Dosis máxima: 400 mg. Administrar diluido en soluciones intravenosas envasadas en frascos de vidrio.

Inhibe la conversión de lanosterol en ergosterol alterando la permeabilidad de las células fúngicas.
Pregnancy warnings
Existen efectos secundarios en fetos de animales de experimentación. No hay hasta el momento estudios adecuados en los seres humanos, por lo que se desconocen los riesgos de su utilización en mujeres embarazadas. LA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA SÓLO ES VALIDA CUANDO EL PROBLEMA DE SALUD INDICA SIN LUGAR A DUDAS, LA NECESIDAD DE SU EMPLEO.
Precautions
Insuficiencia renal.
Adverse effects
Náusea, vómito, dolor abdominal, diarrea, disfunción hepática, síndrome de Stevens Johnson.
