Dosage
Oral. Adultos: 1 mg cada 12 horas. Aumentar la dosis de acuerdo a la respuesta terapéutica, hasta un máximo de 4 mg cada 8 horas. Dosis máxima 12 mg/ día. Intramuscular o intravenosa. Adultos: 2 mg cada 6 horas. Niños: Intramuscular: 40 µg/kg de peso corporal/ día, dividida cada 6 horas.

Disminuye la actividad colinérgica central, favoreciendo el balance colinérgico-dopaminérgico en el sistema nervioso central.
Pregnancy warnings
Existen efectos secundarios en fetos de animales de experimentación. No hay hasta el momento estudios adecuados en los seres humanos, por lo que se desconocen los riesgos de su utilización en mujeres embarazadas. LA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA SÓLO ES VALIDA CUANDO EL PROBLEMA DE SALUD INDICA SIN LUGAR A DUDAS, LA NECESIDAD DE SU EMPLEO.
Adverse effects
Estreñimiento, boca seca, retención urinaria, visión borrosa, inquietud, irritabilidad e hipotensión ortostática.
