Dosage
Oral. Adultos y mayores de 16 años de edad: 400 mg dos veces al día. Debe administrarse en combinación con otros antirretrovirales.
General information
Inhibidor de la integrasa viral. Indicado en combinación con otros antirretrovirales para el tratamiento de la infección por el VIH-1, en pacientes que ya han recibido tratamiento y tienen evidencia de replicación del VIH-1, pese al tratamiento antirretroviral actual.
Pregnancy warnings
Existen efectos secundarios en fetos de animales de experimentación. No hay hasta el momento estudios adecuados en los seres humanos, por lo que se desconocen los riesgos de su utilización en mujeres embarazadas. LA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA SÓLO ES VALIDA CUANDO EL PROBLEMA DE SALUD INDICA SIN LUGAR A DUDAS, LA NECESIDAD DE SU EMPLEO.
Precautions
Insuficiencia hepática preexistente, lactancia y embarazo, menores de 16 años y adultos mayores.
Adverse effects
Diarrea, náusea, cefalea. Aumento de enzimas hepáticas principalmente en pacientes con antecedente de hepatitis crónica B ó C. Osteonecrosis (dolor y rigidez articular y dificultad a los movimientos). Síndrome de reactivación inmunitaria a patógenos oportunistas asintomáticos o residuales (Pneumocystis carinii, citomegalovirus). Miopatía y Rabdomiolisis. Aumento del riesgo de cáncer.
