Dosage
Intramuscular, intravenosa, infusión intravenosa. Adultos: Desde dosis única de 400 mg al día, hasta 400 mg cada 12 horas por 4 días, vía intravenosa; seguidos de 200 a 400 mg/día por vía intramuscular o intravenosa. Niños de 2 meses a 16 años: Tres dosis de 10 mg/kg cada 12 horas por vía intravenosa, seguidas de 6 a 10 mg/kg/día por vía intravenosa o intramuscular. Recién nacidos menores de 2 meses: 16 mg/kg por vía intravenosa el primer día, seguidos de 8 mg/kg/día por infusión intravenosa durante 30 minutos. En infusión, administrar diluido en soluciones intravenosas y envasadas en frascos de vidrio.
General information
Antibiótico glucopeptídico, inhibe la síntesis de la pared celular.
Pregnancy warnings
Sin riesgo para el feto. Se carece de estudios clínicos adecuados para mujeres embarazadas.
Adverse effects
Fiebre, erupción cutánea, ototoxicidad, nefrotoxicidad, náusea, vómito, diarrea, mareo, cefalea, elevación de transaminasas y de fosfatasa alcalina.
