Dosage
Oral, intramuscular o infusión intravenosa. Adultos y Niños: 10 a 15 mg/m2 de superficie corporal cada 6 horas, en un total de 7 dosis. Iniciar su administración 24 horas después de recibir metotrexato. Cuando se utilizan dosis altas de metotrexato, se puede administrar hasta 100 mg/ m2 de superficie corporal. La dosis y vía de administración de ácido folínico depende de la dosis de metotrexato y condiciones clínicas del paciente.
General information
Es una forma reducida del ácido fólico que evita la acción de inhibidores de la dihidrofolato reductasa, con el objeto de “rescatar” células normales y evitar la toxicidad.
Pregnancy warnings
Existen efectos secundarios en fetos de animales de experimentación. No hay hasta el momento estudios adecuados en los seres humanos, por lo que se desconocen los riesgos de su utilización en mujeres embarazadas. LA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA SÓLO ES VALIDA CUANDO EL PROBLEMA DE SALUD INDICA SIN LUGAR A DUDAS, LA NECESIDAD DE SU EMPLEO.
