Dosage
Oral. Adultos: 200 mg cada 4 horas. Intravenosa. Adultos y niños mayores de 12 años: 5 mg/kg de peso corporal cada 8 horas por siete días. Niños menores de 12 años: 250 mg/m2 de superficie corporal/día, cada 8 horas por 7 días. Neonatos: 30 mg/kg de peso corporal/día, cada 8 horas. Administrar diluido en soluciones intravenosas envasadas en frascos de vidrio.

Inhibe la síntesis del DNA viral.
Pregnancy warnings
Existen efectos secundarios en fetos de animales de experimentación. No hay hasta el momento estudios adecuados en los seres humanos, por lo que se desconocen los riesgos de su utilización en mujeres embarazadas. LA TERAPIA MEDICAMENTOSA SÓLO ES VALIDA CUANDO EL PROBLEMA DE SALUD INDICA SIN LUGAR A DUDAS, LA NECESIDAD DE SU EMPLEO.
Precautions
La solución inyectable es una infusión, evitar su uso en bolo, tópica u ocular.
Adverse effects
Intravenosa: flebitis. Cefalea, temblores, alucinaciones, convulsiones, hipotensión. Oral: náusea, vómito, diarrea.
