Dosage
Oral. Adultos y niños: Según las necesidades del paciente, peso corporal, edad y condición de deshidratación. Diluir el contenido del sobre en un litro de agua hervida y fría. Al preparar la dilución, agregar el polvo al agua, no el agua al polvo.
General information
Las pérdidas exageradas de agua y electrolitos (vómito, diarrea, fiebre, etc) producen deshidratación isotónica; la rehidratación oral temprana es muy eficaz para disminuir la morbilidad y mortalidad por estos padecimientos. Las soluciones de osmolaridad baja mejoran la absorción neta de agua en el organismo y restablecen el equilibrio electrolítico en el cuerpo.
Pregnancy warnings
No hay riesgo para el feto en el primer trimestre del embarazo. No hay pruebas de riesgo en los últimos trimestres del embarazo.
Precautions
Obstrucción intestinal de cualquier etiología y en presencia de vómito incoercible, ileo paralítico, perforación y obstrucción intestinal. En pacientes con cólera se recomienda la fórmula de osmolaridad baja
Adverse effects
Náusea y vómito, desequilibrio electrolítico, hipernatremia e hiperpotasemia con fórmula de osmolaridad normal. Hiponatremia en pacientes con cólera a los que se les administra la fórmula de osmolaridad baja.
