Dosage
Intramuscular o intravenosa lenta (5 a 10 minutos). Adultos: 50 mg cada 6 a 8 horas. Niños: 1 a 2 mg/kg /día, cada 8 horas. Oral. Adultos: 150 mg a 300 mg por vía oral cada 12 a 24 horas. Sostén: 150 mg cada 24 horas, al acostarse. En Zollinger-Ellison: dosis máxima 6 g por día. Niños: 2 a 4 mg/kg /día, cada 12 horas.

Antagonista de los receptores H2 en las células parietales, disminuyendo la secreción gástrica.
Pregnancy warnings
Sin riesgo para el feto. Se carece de estudios clínicos adecuados para mujeres embarazadas.
Adverse effects
Neutropenia, trombocitopenia, cefalea, malestar general, mareos, confusión, bradicardia. náusea y estreñimiento, ictericia, exantema.
