Dosage
Oral. Adultos: De 5 a 60 mg/día, dosis única o fraccionada cada 8 horas. La dosis de sostén se establece de acuerdo a la respuesta terapéutica; y posteriormente se disminuye gradualmente hasta alcanzar la dosis mínima efectiva. Dosis máxima: 250 mg/día. Niños: De 0.5 a 2 mg/kg de peso corporal/día ó 25 a 60 mg/m2 de superficie corporal, fraccionada cada 6 a 12 horas.
General information
Glucocorticoide de acción intermedia que induce la transcripción de RNA promoviendo la síntesis de enzimas responsables de sus efectos.
Pregnancy warnings
Sin riesgo para el feto. Se carece de estudios clínicos adecuados para mujeres embarazadas.
Precautions
Úlcera péptica, hipertensión arterial sistémica, diabetes mellitus, insuficiencias hepática y renal e inmunosupresión.
Adverse effects
Catarata subcapsular posterior, hipoplasia suprarrenal, síndrome de Cushing, obesidad, osteoporosis, gastritis, superinfecciones, glaucoma, coma hiperosmolar, hiperglucemia, hipercatabolismo muscular, cicatrización retardada y retraso en el crecimiento.
